Role Overview
Urban Vibe Interior Design is seeking a motivated Interior Design Trainee (Industrial Attachment) to gain hands-on experience in interior design, cut-to-size production, cabinetry, and site installation. This role is practical and production-focused, offering real exposure to materials, machines, and professional workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Interior Design & Planning
Assist in space planning and interior layout preparation
Support furniture and cabinetry design (wardrobes, kitchens, TV units)
Prepare basic drawings and design details under supervision
Boards & Materials Handling
Identify and differentiate boards by type, color, and thickness
Assist in incoming board record-keeping, including:
Board type and finish
Thickness and quantity
Ownership (client-owned or company stock)
Support proper board storage and handling
Cut-to-Size & Production
Read and interpret cutting lists
Assist in cut-to-size operations
Learn and apply MaxCut optimization software for efficient material usage
Support waste minimization and job tracking
Machines & Workshop Operations
Learn safe operation (under supervision) of workshop machines, including:
Panel saw / table saw
Edge banding machine
Router and drilling equipment
Assist in edge banding, finishing, and quality control
Site Work & Installation
Participate in site measurements and verification
Assist in cabinet installation and fittings
Observe and support on-site finishing and defect correction
Professional Practice
Support client consultations and project coordination
Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality
Keep daily and weekly work records as required
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the attachment, the trainee will have gained:
Practical knowledge of interior design workflows
Hands-on experience with boards, finishes, and cabinetry
Basic competence in MaxCut software
Understanding of workshop machines and production standards
Exposure to site installation and client interaction
Requirements
Student pursuing Interior Design or related course
Willingness to learn and work in both office and workshop environments
Basic computer skills (design software is an added advantage)
Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions
